Bio:
Mayor James M. (Mike) Patrick Born in Lakeview 1944 Graduated from Lakeview High School with the "Thundering Herd" in 1962
"I'm the first born of five children to Pat & Toots Patrick and lived in Lakeview for the first 18 years of my life. I then joined the Navy to see the world. I spent 4 years and 9 months as a Sailor for Uncle Sam and saw a lot of the world. Most of it in the Far East. I'm a Viet Nam Veteran and a proud Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Viet Nam Veterans of America (VVA).
I worked for the City of Portland, Department of Defense in Hawthorne, Nevada, Veterans Hospital in Helena, Montana, Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls and Navy Air Station in Fallon, Nevada before returning to Lakeview in 1982. I returned to Lakeview to raise my family and to work for Lakeview School District #7. After 10 years of working for the School District, I accepted the job of Director of Plant Operations at Lake District Hospital until my retirement in 2012.
I was elected to the Town Council in 2002 and re-elected in 2006. When the Town ended up without a Mayor when Mayor Watson resigned, I decided to run for his vacated position. I was elected Mayor in 2008. I resigned my Councilor position in December of 2008 and was sworn in as interim Mayor on December 9, 2008 to finish up Mayor Watson's term. I was sworn in as Mayor on January 5, 2009 for my 4 year term.
In November of 2012, I was re-elected to another 4 year term as Mayor of the Town. I'm grateful to the citizens of Lakeview for the opportunity to continue in this job.
My involvement with the Christmas Committee and the Save Our Pool Committee, plus the normal duties of being Mayor are very rewarding adn I enjoy the job.
Our Geotheral project for Lake District Hospital and Lake County Schools is nearing finalization.
Our Town looked very Christmas-like this year with the new street decorations, and our Save Our Pool Committee is making real progress.
we have a great Town Council, a hard working staff at Town Hall and dedicated employees througout our organization. I am proud to be the Mayor of Lakeview.
Although Lakeview is not the same 'Small Town U.S.A' of my youth, it's still a great place to LIVE, WORK, RAISE A FAMILY and RETIRE.
Beautiful scenery, hunting, fishing, hiking, camping and a relaxed lifestyle are just a few of the things that make Lakeview a great place to live and call home.
Neighbors help and watch out for each other and our many VOLUNTEERS are the best in the world. The same can be said for our Service clubs, Churches, Chamber of Commerce, Business Organizations and citizens. I love Lakeview and I'm proud to have been born, raised and raised my own family here. I look forward to the opportunity to serve the citizens of Lakeview as their Mayor for the next 4 years.
I invite all to visit us in Rural Southeastern Oregon and enjoy what we have to offer. Though I have a full time job at the hospital, I plan to be in my 'Mayor's Office' form 11:00 am to 4:00 pm every Monday. I try to stop by Town hall at least once daily. If you would like to contact me my email is lakeviewmayor@yahoo.com or call 947-2029 or stop by on Mondays."
