Recycle
Oregon Electronics Recycling Law enacted in 2007 (House Bill 2626) creates and finances a statewide collection, transportation, and recycling system for desktop computers, portable computers, monitors and televisions (covered electronic devises or CED's).
Manufacturers of CED's sold or offered for sale in Oregon must either manage their own collection and recycling programs under a plan approved by DEQ or participate in the State contractor program established under this law. These programs must use environmentally sound management practices for the collection, transportation and recycling of CED's.

This new law began on January 1, 2009. The following is a list of qualifying CES's :

  • Televisions
  • Computer Monitors
  • Desktop Computers
  • Laptop Computers
These items were previously collected at the Gooselake Landfill for a fee of $3.00 per item. With the implementation of this new program, they will now be collected for free.

Computer keyboards will also be accepted but will require a small fee to be paid at the time of delivery.

Items collected on January 1, 2009 and thereafter are covered under the MRM (Electronic Manufacturers Recycling Management Company) plan with the Gooselake Landfill being the collection site.

Covered entities are residents, small business/non-profits with fewer than 10 employees. These entities may bring up to 7 CED's at a time.
